Terms of use
The terms for using this website: what the guides are and are not, what reading them does not commit either of us to, and whose names are whose.

Who runs this site
This website is run by Ten Rivers Systems LLC, a consulting company registered in North Carolina, United States. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. How I handle personal information is set out separately in the privacy policy.
The guides are general information
The guides and the other pages describe how software is commonly set up and what typically goes wrong. They are written for the general case and checked on the review date each guide shows, and the products they describe keep changing after that. Before you act on one, check it against your own setup and the vendor's current documentation.
Ten Rivers Systems handles technical setup, configuration, and data migration only and does not provide accounting or tax advice. I am not an accountant or tax adviser. How you keep your books and what you owe stays between you and your own professionals.
Reading this site does not make you a client
Reading the site, emailing me, or booking a call does not create an engagement or any duty to you. An engagement starts only when we both sign an engagement letter, and that letter, not this page, sets the scope, the price and the terms of the work. Prices on this site describe the typical case; the written scope agreed before work starts is what you pay.
Please do not send sensitive information first
Please do not email passwords, bank or card numbers, Social Security numbers or other sensitive data before an engagement starts. If the work needs access to one of your systems, we will set that up a safer way once the work is agreed.
Names and trademarks
QuickBooks, ProAdvisor and Intuit are trademarks of Intuit Inc. Avalara and AvaTax are trademarks of Avalara, Inc. Other product and company names on this site, including NetSuite, Shopify and Bill.com, are trademarks of their respective owners. I use them only to say which products I work with. Ten Rivers Systems is an independent firm: naming a product does not mean its maker sponsors or endorses this site, and any credential or partner status is stated where it applies.
Links to other sites
Some links lead to sites I do not control, such as Calendly or a vendor's documentation. Their own terms and privacy policies apply there, and I am not responsible for what they publish.
Using what is here
The writing, figures and sample deliverable on this site belong to Ten Rivers Systems LLC. You are welcome to read, print and share links to them, and to quote short passages with a link back. Please do not republish whole pages or present them as your own.
No warranty, and limits on liability
I work to keep this site accurate, but it is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Ten Rivers Systems LLC is not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using this site or relying on its content. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply to you only as far as the law where you live permits. Nothing on this page limits the terms of a signed engagement letter.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about this website will be heard in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
Changes
If these terms change, I will update this page and the date above.
