QuickBooks Desktop to Online migration
I move your company file from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, check the numbers against Desktop before you rely on them, and write down what changed.
Checked before you trust the numbers.
Transactions and lists come across. Historical reconciliation reports, memorized and customized reports, the audit trail, and most payroll history do not.
01
Before the move
I check the file against QuickBooks Online's import limit, then save the reports the new file will be checked against, as of your cutover date: Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and A/R and A/P aging. Reconciliation reports are saved as PDFs, because Online does not bring them across.
02
The move
Intuit's own migration tool rather than re-keying, run when nobody is working in the file, with neither copy touched until it finishes.
03
The checks and the summary
The same reports, run in Online as of the same date and compared with the Desktop snapshot. You get a summary report of what moved, what did not, and what the checks found.
One number, agreed before anything starts.
It starts with a free thirty-minute call, then a first-pass review and a written scope within two days, at no cost. The scope tells you whether your file is the typical case. Most migrations run one to two weeks.
A typical QuickBooks Desktop to Online migration, with no major data cleanup, runs about $200.
That covers the migration itself, the data validation, and a summary report. Files that need real cleanup first are scoped and quoted in writing before anything starts.
What the move changed.
No client names, and nothing here that the client has not confirmed.
One central login, and access that stopped being a bottleneck
Everything now sits behind one central login. Sharing access, or answering a question about a transaction, is no longer the obstacle it was on Desktop.
Bills paid from one place, and Shopify posting itself
Bills are now paid from one place, by check or electronically. Shopify activity posts to the books daily without anyone keying it in.
